Ralphael Frausto, 93, formerly a resident of Romeoville Illinois, passed away November 22, 2021, at his home in Goodyear, Arizona. He was born October 24, 1928, in Chicago Illinois to Ventura Frausto and Refugia Frausto (nee Carinado). Ralph is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary W. Frausto (nee Wilson), granddaughters Ena Gonzales and Nathia A. Modla (nee Frausto). He has survived by his loving children Sheila J., Raphel “Rick” (Zully), Robert., Pamela A. (Jeff) Gonzales, Eva M. (Carl) Emler. Surviving by his grandchildren Kimberly, Yvette, Timothy, Vanessa, Melissa, Antonio, Ryan, Robert, Felicia, Jeff, Brandon, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Ralph served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a Paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged in 1953. He was most proud of his service for his country. In 2015, he was able to travel to Washington DC and participate in Honor Flight Arizona with other WW II veterans.
Ralph began working for AT&T, as a plumber pipefitter, in 1966, retiring in 1989.
Ralph was a participant in the Arizona Senior Olympics. He enjoyed competing and won many medals in swimming, tai chi, billiards, shooting-pistol and horseshoes.
Ralph’s love for music is what he will be remembered most for by his beloved family. The love he had for jazz music and playing his upright bass, congas, and guitar has influenced the younger generations of his family to have the same love he had for music. Music is what has bound his family together. Ralph’s musical talent and knowledge also has influenced and inspired others outside of his family. The family will forever remember listening to his favorite jazz musicians and Ralph telling stories of growing up in Chicago’s jazz scene, playing in local clubs and meeting different musicians with the same love for music.
Services and celebration of life will commence at a later date.
